Job Ref: 3916
Job Title: Shared Lives Carer
Salary: Up to £450 per week (Pro-Rata)
Closing date: 9th December 2020
Here at The Richmond Fellowship Scotland we are currently looking to recruit Shared Lives Carers across Dumfries and Galloway. Shared Lives is a service that allows you to work from home.
A Shared Lives carer shares their home and family life with a young person or adult who needs support to live everyday life.
In return, you`ll receive a fee from the council plus expenses for travel, food/drink and additional activities. No experience is necessary - you`ll need a PVG and some training, but we cover all that too.
The job`s flexible, and we`ll match you to a client who shares similar interests.
About the role:
-Could you offer support for one or two days a week, or overnight stays to offer respite for family carers?
-Could you offer support on an emergency basis at very short notice?
-Could you offer your time to teach someone a hobby or take them out on a day trip without the commitment of staying in your home?
-Or do you have room in your heart and home for someone to move in with you for a few weeks, months or many years?
Shared Lives carers give a helping hand to someone getting dressed, getting to doctors` appointments, making friends, cooking together or voting for your favourite dancers on TV.
People visiting or moving in with Shared Lives carers may have been in foster care, have learning or physical disabilities, or have mental health issues.
If you have a caring nature, have previously cared for people or you`re looking for a new paid opportunity at home, apply now to start a fresh journey that`ll enrich your life like never before!
You don`t need any qualifications. We will support you every step of the way and there`s loads of support when you need it.
What do I need to do it?
-Your enthusiasm, motivation and commitment are more important than any formal caring experience or qualifications.
-We will help match you with individuals with similar interests and support you every step of the way.
-People living with a Shared Lives carer may also take part in other activities and support during the day that helps them live a fulfilling life.
It`s a paid, flexible role!
You will be paid a fee (if someone moves in with you) which will in turn enable you to make a positive difference to someone`s life. If you offer day support, you`re paid for a block of time - usually four hours in a day.
As a Shared Lives carer, you are self-employed, so that you can receive tax benefits and get on with the job of living.
You`ll have a dedicated scheme worker to talk through anything you`re not sure about and celebrate your successes.
The process can take up to 9 months from the beginning to the end of the recruitment, following that we will then begin the matching process to find the most suitable person whom you could care for .
Shared Lives is best for quality and safety!
Shared Lives is consistently rated the best quality and safest form of social care by the Care Inspectorate.
You`ll be joining Scotland`s best kind of social care - something to be really proud of!
You will be required to go through a full PVG check as part of the process.
